Just curious for those who have AEM cold air intake kits, is it necessary to get the air bypass valve as well?

I don't currently have the AEM CAI, but have used it on the Sol I had before my current one.

My thoughts on the bypass valve:

?I've seen a dyno of a GSR that lost 6whp by using the valve. Haven't seen any other comparisons, so might want to take that with a grain of salt. Still, something to consider.

?I used the CAI for a year without any problems, and that included going through some pretty deep puddles.

?In my opinion, common sense is all it takes to avoid hydrolocking your engine. Don't drive through deep puddles, obviously. If you absolutely have to, idle through the puddle. The less of a vacuum for the water to be sucked up into the better.
